All vehicle rentals with Ryde are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines important terms, conditions, insurance details, applicable charges, and your responsibilities during the rental period. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the latter will take precedence.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a Vehicle with Ryde
- To rent a vehicle from Ryde Car Hire, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may vary based on vehicle type, with potential extra fees for drivers under 25. A valid, full driving license suited to the vehicle category is required, held for the duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, you must present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with payment information and a security deposit. Please review the Rental Agreement for any other specific requirements.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations with Ryde Car Hire can be made via our website, over the phone, or in person at our Dartford office. To confirm your booking, a deposit may be necessary. Full payment and a security deposit are usually collected upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as required. We process payments securely through major credit and debit cards using trusted payment systems.
4. Pick-Up and Drop-Off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. Please return the vehicle in the same condition as it was collected, acknowledging normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling charges will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may result in additional fees, so please notify us promptly if you anticipate a delay. You are accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges incurred during your rental period, in addition to an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Policy
- Basic third-party insurance is included with all rentals from Ryde Car Hire. Details regarding coverage and excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to further limit your financial liability. It is recommended to review these options thoroughly. You will be held responsible for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount unless you opt for extra coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance provisions.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and modification policies depend on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For detailed information, please check your booking confirmation or rental agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- Prohibited activities include using the vehicle for illegal purposes or engaging in any form of racing, off-roading, or other high-risk endeavors. Transporting hazardous materials, sub-letting the vehicle, or allowing unauthorized drivers is not permitted. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, exceeding weight or passenger limits, and operating outside designated geographical areas without prior consent are strictly forbidden.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Ryde Car Hire assumes no liability for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claim is limited to the amount paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to cases involving death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be handled exclusively by the courts in this jurisdiction.

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
